14th International Colloquium on
Structural Information and Communication Complexity

June 5--8, 2007, Castiglioncello (LI), Italy
http://www.di.unipi.it/SIROCCO2007

The Colloquia on Structural Information and Communication Complexity (SIROCCO) focus on the relationship between computing and communication, i.e., the study of those factors that are significant for the computability and the communication complexity of problems and on the interplay between structure, knowledge and complexity. The Colloquia provide an opportunity to bring together specialists interested in the fundamental principles underlying all computing through communication.

SIROCCO prides itself on being a lively venue, which encourages the emergence of new research areas (related to distributed computing in a broad sense) and the dissemination of original ideas. This is achieved by dedicating ample time for informal discussions and open problem sessions in addition to regular conference activities.

Scope

Original papers are solicited from all those areas where the interplay between complexity and communication takes place. In particular from:

Distributed Computing High-Speed Networks
Interconnection Networks Mobile Networks
Mobile Computing Optical Computing
Parallel Computing Sensor Networks
Wireless Networks Autonomous Robots

and related areas.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • communication complexity
  • distributed algorithms and data structures
  • information dissemination
  • mobile agent computing
  • models of communication
  • network topologies
  • routing protocols
  • sense of direction
  • structural properties.
Submission

Submitted papers must be written in English and should not exceed 12 pages using 11-point font and reasonable margins, including figures, tables and references. The first page must include the title of the paper, author(s) names and affiliation, postal address, fax number, email, address for correspondence, a list of keywords and an abstract. Submitted papers must have original content that has not been previously published in, or under review by, other refereed venues. Authors must submit their papers electronically, following the guidelines available on the SIROCCO 2007 web page at http://www.di.unipi.it/SIROCCO2007. Authors who are unable to submit electronically must contact the program committee co-chairs.

Publication

The selection of contributions will be based on peer-review by the Program Committee. It is required that each accepted paper be presented at the conference by one of its authors. An informal proceedings consisting of the accepted papers will be distributed at the conference. The formal proceedings is planned to be published as a volume in the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Authors of accepted papers are required to submit the final, camera-ready versions of their papers after the Conference in LNCS format (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). Each participant will receive a copy of the final proceedings.

Selected papers will be invited to the special issue of a high quality journal devoted to SIROCCO 2007 (in the past it has been with Theoretical Computer Science).
