HOW TO REACH CASTIGLIONCELLO AND CASTELLO PASQUINI
Getting to Castiglioncello (once in Italy) is just a matter of preference as well as convenience, as the city is well connected to main transportation routes. Here are reported some information to possibly facilitate this task.
By Car
Reaching Castiglioncello from the north: it's convenient to use the Genova-Rosignano, (A12) motorway (http://www.autostrade.it/ ). Get the Rosignano exit and follow the indication to join the State Road SS1 (direction: Livorno). In few minutes the exit for Castiglioncello will be reached (see the road map). After one just has to follow the indications for “Castiglioncello/Castello Pasquini” on the way. The main city square (Piazza della Vittoria), on the Old “Via Aurelia” (see the city map below) will be reached, where the Castle entrance and the parking are easily found.
Reaching Castiglioncello form the south: get the exit of Castiglioncello on SS1 "Aurelia" and follow the indications for “Castiglioncello/Castello Pasquini” on the way. The main city square (Piazza della Vittoria), on the Old Aurelia Road will be reached, where the Castle entrance and the parking are easily found.
By Train
The train-station of Castiglioncello is well connected to main Italian train-stations (Milan, Florence, Rome, Pisa…). Please, refer to the Italian Railways Website (http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html) for updated time tables. Once at the train station, reaching the “Castello Pasquini” quite easily. Leaving the station proceed on the right for a few hundred meters till the main city square, where the entrance to the Castle can be seen on the right.
By Plane
The closest international airport is located in Pisa (http://www.pisa-airport.com/). From there, Castiglioncello can be easily reached by car as well as by train (see related sections). The Galileo Galilei airport is well connected to main intercontinental landings (Milan and Rome airports) by domestic flights (see the related websites for updated details).
