".... pleasure has probably been the main goal all along. But I hesitate to admit it, because computer scientists want to maintain their image as hard-working individuals who deserve high salaries. Sooner or later society will realise that certain kinds of hard work are in fact admirable even though they are more fun than just about anything else."
D. E. Knuth.
CALL FOR PAPERS [PDF]
The Seventh International conference on Fun with Algorithms (FUN 2014)
is dedicated to the use, design, and analysis of algorithms and data
structures, focusing on results that provide amusing, witty but
nonetheless original and scientifically profound contributions to the
area. The previous FUNs were held in Elba Island, Italy; in
Castiglioncello, Tuscany, Italy; in Ischia Island, Italy; and in San
Servolo Island, Venice, Italy. Special issues of Theoretical Computer
Science, Discrete Applied Mathematics, and Theory of Computing Systems
were dedicated to them. Among the covered topics, we seek submissions on:
FUN with biological algorithms
FUN with cryptographic algorithms
FUN with game-theoretic algorithms
FUN with graph algorithms
FUN with internet algorithms
FUN with opimization algorithms
FUN with robotics algorithms
FUN with string algorithms
FUN with combinatorial algorithms
FUN with distributed algorithms
FUN with geometrical algorithms
FUN with mobile algorithms
FUN with parallel algorithms
FUN with randomized
FUN with space-conscious algorithms
FUN with visualization of algorithms
IMPORTANT DATES (new Extended Deadline)
The deadline for receiving submissions is extended to January 22,
2014 (moved from
January 15, 2014). Notification of acceptance will be sent by
March 7, 2014 (moved from February 28, 2014). Final version of accepted papers is
due by March 31, 2014. Conference dates are July 1--3,
2014. Hotel reservation by March 31, 2014
NOTE: Due to the deadline extension, notification of acceptance is delayed accordingly
Conference proceedings will be published by Springer in the LNCS
Authors can submit their manuscript electronically (at
most 12 pages) using the EasyChair submission system.
Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their work at the conference. The program committee will determine appropriate time allocations for presentations (between 20 and 45 minutes).
EARLY REGULAR: 450 euros, EARLY STUDENT: 280 euros (before 30th
of April, included)
LATE REGULAR: 550 euros, LATE STUDENT: 380 euros (after 1st of May)
The fee includes lunches, coffee breaks, a copy of the proceedings, the social event and the social dinner. To register, please follow the instructions here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In order for your paper to be published in the FUN2014 Proceedings, at least one of the authors of each paper must register by the EARLY REGULAR deadline. Without registering, your paper will not appear in the Proceedings.
