Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery: Research and Development
Collaborator at the Department of Computer Science - University of Pisa. My activities concern the research and development in the Data mining field. Study and development of methodologies and algorithms for data mining. Use and development of Ontologies.
Current Projects:
(From 2006 to 2010)
European Project in cooperation with various European Partners.
A European RTD project in the field of knowledge management Sixth Framework Programme - IST (Information Society Technologies). Objectives: to integrate Semantic Web and Human Language technologies and combine declarative rule-based methods and statistical approaches for enhancing the knowledge acquisition and reasoning in BI applications towards industries with a deep socioeconomic impact. Three Industrial verticalizations: Financial Risk Management, Internationalization, IT Operational Risk.
Inter-disciplinary Italian project.
ANONIMO is an inter-disciplinary project and is based on the observation that research in the area of privacy protection is currently pursued both from the legal regulation viewpoint and the information and communication technology viewpoint. The main goal of this project is a quantitative, context-sensitive characterization of the notions of privacy and anonymity, together with their use in applications as data mining and data analysis, location-based services, and trust negotiation in social networks. From the legal viewpoint, the main activity is the study of the concepts of privacy and anonymity themselves; from the computer science viewpoint, the main activity is to develop formal framework for measuring privacy and anonymity. The approach adopted in this project is to promote cross-fertilization between the legal and the ICT perspective.
Past Projects:
(From 2006 to 2009)
Business Register Interoperability Throughout Europe is an Integrated Project (IP) funded by the European Commission, DG Information Society & Media. BRITE will undertake research in knowledge management, will implement and demonstrate novel ICT engineering and will establish a new European cooperation instrument so that public bodies can effectively respond to the changes imposed on them by the new EU laws and new market requirements
- TetraModel:
(From 2002 to 2005)
Industrial research project, co-financed by Ministero dell Università e della Ricerca Scientifica (MIUR). Objectives: evaluation of innovative economic plans. Realization and experimentation of analytic and decisional models for financing technological innovation projects.
Ph.D.
I have got my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Institutions, Markets, Technologies (IMT) - Institute for Advanced Studies of Lucca in 2009.
