Description of the Master Degree

The Master Degree in Computer Science aims at educating specialists with solid foundations in computer science and high qualification in information technologies.
The programme covers all the fundamental topics for a master graduate in computer science. Students can also acquire advanced knowledge on innovative topics, by choosing from a rich set of advanced courses.

From a professional perspective, graduates will be experts in the design and development of innovative information systems and of modern global communication infrastructures.
Generally speaking, the master graduate will be a professional capable of understanding and defining new techniques for solving complex and innovative computing problems.

The duration of the Master is 2 years

    • Computing Models
    • Principles of Programming Languages
    • Advanced Programming
    • Subsidiary courses
  • Second year (60 ECTS)
    • Distributed Systems: Paradigms and Models
    • Subsidiary courses
    • Free choice credits
    • Master thesis

Admission requirements

First-level bachelor degree with 60 ECTS of computer science courses and 12 ECTS of mathematics or physics courses or an extra-UE  bachelor degree with analogous features.  There is a maximum number of extra-UE students that can enrol. Pre-applications undergo a selection process. Detailed information on how to apply are available in the webpage international students.

Application deadline

Pre-admission for foreign students: 25 May 2015.

Enrolment: from 30 July to 31 December 2015.

Scholarships

The University of Pisa offers a welcome package to the best 10 applicants to support  the first months in Pisa. In addition, the Azienda della Regione Toscana per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario DSU (i.e., the Tuscan regional board for the right to university education) awards full scholarships through its own calls.
